Garment Care

Disclaimer: This is NOT professional advice, just quick tips that we have learned through trial, error and personal experience.

For the best results, always follow the garments care label or have your items professionally dry cleaned.

Acetate:

  • Hand Wash Cold & Air Dry.
  • Acetate is a man-made fiber that is blended with other fibers to create an easy to drape fabric. Acetate cleans up well but is also very sensitive. This fabric can be damaged from wringing, twisting or heat.

Cotton:

  • Hot Water Wash & Tumble Dry Warm
  • Cotton is a natural fiber and is a worldwide favorite when it comes to comfortability and versatility.
  • Cotton will shrink if it hasn't already been preshrunk or processed. Check the care label before washing. If the care label just so happens to read 'cold water only', this may signal that the item is prone to shrinkage if not washed properly. Preshrunk items can be washed in hot, cold or warm water depending on the color and care label instructions.
  • Over-drying can encourage shrinking as well. Tumble dry on low to warm heat and remove and hang when fairly cool.

Linen:

  • Cool Water Wash & Air Dry
  • Linen is a natural fiber and made from the flax plant.
  • Check the garment label to determine whether or not the item needs to be dry-cleaned. Linen absorbs more water during the washing process than other fibers. Avoid over-crowding the washer and dryer.

Polyester:

  • Cool Water Wash & Tumble Dry Warm or Air Dry
  • Previously known as the 'Wonder Fiber'. Polyester is colorful, durable and easy to care for. This fabric can be machine washed on a warm setting if the care label allows. To prevent wrinkles and static build-up, remove garment from the dryer while its still damp and hang.

Silk:

  • Hand Wash or Cool Warm Wash & Air Dry
  • Silk is a natural fiber and is among the worlds oldest materials. Silk is lustrous, supple, and strong in every way.
  • Always follow the care label for instructions for the garment. If it says "Dry Clean Only', do just that. Many weave patterns for Silk can pucker or tighten if machine washed. NEVER tumble dry silk, instead, roll in a towel to press out moisture and then air dry.

Spandex:

  • Hand Wash & Air Dry
  • Spandex is an elastic fiber that is now incorporated in small amounts to an array of different fabric to add stretch and comfort.
  • Spandex is hand and a machine washable but always avoid hot water and chlorine bleach. Unless the care label states otherwise, always hang to dry and avoid machine drying. Dryers can cause spandex to pucker or bubble.

Wool:

  • Hand Wash & Air Dry
  • Wool is a natural fiber. It is soft, warm, naturally insulating and easy to dye to say the least. In its natural state, it is washable but always check the care label first; as many wool blends are Dry Clean Only.
